The Chevrolet Tahoe is all new for 2021, marking the fifth generation of this full-size SUV. The all-new Tahoe, with independent rear suspension and a much roomier 3rd-row seat, has also grown over half a foot and now spans 210.7 inches in length.

Which Tahoe is the Best?
Most SUV shoppers don't need a vehicle as capable or as pricey as the Tahoe. If you don't tow or go off-road much, a vehicle such as the
Kia Telluride, the
Toyota Highlander or the
Nissan Pathfinder will do the job for less money. Still, the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is the best one yet, bringing a more refined ride quality and competitive safety and tech features -- all while retaining its rugged chassis. Its ability to seat up to nine passengers and tow heavy loads makes it a great vehicle for families and active individuals with toys to haul. It also stands out with its newly available diesel engine. Add it all up, and this fifth-generation Chevrolet Tahoe proudly builds on its heritage while bringing the modern features, plusher ride quality and fresh-yet-bold design that today's buyers crave.

All redesigned Chevrolet Tahoe models include forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking. The latter system works by first warning of a potential frontal collision. If necessary, the vehicle can then automatically apply the brakes to prevent or lessen the impact of a frontal crash. As mentioned before, though optional, the Driver Alert Package ($790) is recommended. It adds lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and rear parking sensors. Note that those enhanced safety features are standard on the Premier and High Country trims. Also available on the High Country is adaptive cruise control, which can pace the vehicle ahead. Crash-test ratings for the new Chevrolet Tahoe are still to be determined.
2021 Chevrolet Tahoe vs the competition
2020 Ford Expedition -- As the Tahoe's primary American rival, the
Ford already made the switch to a more sophisticated independent rear suspension. And though its starting price is slightly higher than the Tahoe's, it comes standard with a full suite of active safety systems. Instead of V8 powertrains, the Expedition uses a twin-turbo V6, including a high-performance variant that makes 400 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque
2020 Toyota Sequoia --
Toyota's full-size 3-row SUV feels dated in comparison and is more of a handful to drive, but it also has a great history of reliability and excellent resale value.
Used Lincoln Navigator -- As the upscale version of Ford's Expedition, the
Lincoln brings higher levels of refinement, luxury features and classy design. The latest generation debuted for the 2018 model year, which means you can find one that has already experienced depreciation.
